When SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) got standardized, it was changed to TLS
(Transport Layer Security) by the IETF.

Disambiguating the namespace is part of the standardization process, is
it not?

Even if no one here cares enough to point out the ambiguity at the
source, i argue that it is essential to avoid using potentially
ambiguous terminology in the context of the LSB.

Here is a proposal for disambiguating TLS (Transport Layer Security,
RFC-2246) from TLS (thread-local storage) in the context of the LSB:

  - "Transport Layer Security" is abbreviated "SSL/TLS".
  - "thread-local storage" is abbreviated "threads/TLS".
  - The unqualified abbreviation "TLS" should not be used.
