I think a cron script can be in any script language covered by the LSB. Even
Perl is covered through the backdoor: It might be part of
mypackage-addon-perl.rpm. But I fully agree that it is missleading. Any
suggestion for a better description?
(One should also remove the "etc.", an example (e.g.) shall always be a subset
of all possibilities.)
b) [tags around arguments like "start", "try-start"]
I don't care how, but I agree that they should be tagged consistantly.
c) [init script]
I'm content with 'init script' and 'init-script action', i.e. if they are used
attributively I'd prefer a hyphen.
d) [Copying vs. "registerating" init scripts via install_initd]
I think the idea was always to use the FHS-defined /etc/init.d/ to put there the
init scripts (marked as configuration files in the rpm file) and install_initd
only creates the links in /etc/init.d/rc?.d/ or /etc/rc?.d/ - or whatever the
distributions decides to do.
Since "install" sounds very much like "copy the file there", some confusion
arose (which can also be found in the .sgml files, unfortunally). If I remember
correctly (I can search in the mail archive, if needed be), this was settled to
mean that install_initd indeed only means the creation of the symlinks.
