I think it is a very good idea to set the password. Or we should tell the admin in the post install section, that he has to set the password before he start the run script. But not all passwd commands can read the password from stdin, which is necessary in this case. And with usermod -p, we have the problem that we don't know with which crypt() algorithm the admin is working.
