LSB 3.1 test Plan/Desktop test planning:
The 3.1 release is being staged over the next two months.
Our target is to get release candidates out for January 15 2006,
with general release targeted for February 15 2006.

We plan to update most tools. Andrew has  been working through the
Bugzilla assigning them as appropriate to team members, mainly
Mats,Marvin,Rui and himself.  Andrew checked a number of lsb-runtime
fixes into the tree, including a change to the nonexistent device
setup that tries to determine if the device number is in use through
looking at /proc/devices if it exists and is readable.

Our target is try and work all changes through before the end of
this year.We want to tie the release cycle in with the upcoming
desktop release.

Many tools will be expanded to cover the new desktop module.
The preference is for a single covering the core and the optional modules
rather than two versions of the tool,
so we need to get any fixes into that
tool before we do the desktop release.
A unified tool with a switch to select the mode.
The Desktop release rc1 test tools are targeted for Jan 15 , 
with the main release Feb 15 2006.

There was some discussion about how to package the desktop
tests, and it was agreed we could do with some advice added
to the wiki on test suite locations /opt/lsb/test/{testname}.


Pam :
An issue was raised on the pam library.
Symbols within the pam library are now versioned , and our tools do not
expect that and will flag that as errors in libchk , and
presumably appcheck for applications that link with the
library. This needs attention by the Spec Authority.

XTS 5:
Rui has released RC1. Some results are now in. Known problems
relate to xfvb needing a certain set of extensions.
The way forward here is for us to package up a version of
xvfb that must be used with the test suite.
The target for an XTS5 release is Jan 15 (rc1) [ we are
currently ahead of that target]
for Jan 15 / LSB 3.1
