I thought that old desktop kernel was targeting the i686 micro-architecture with PAE enabled but that was mistake. For some reasons it has been decided to not use PAE even if the i686 has the support... Well, even if it's not nice, if the number of users is very low (and I suspect it is) then we could simply ask them to use install the kernel-generic package manually ? -- Franck
