As it was already mentioned, grub2 needs thorough testing; I've played with grub2 from cooker on my machine, and it works fine now (and even displays nice images and menu entries in Russian after font tweaks:)) I've also took a look at drakxtools; indeed, some work is required to teach them to support grub2.
