Yes, scripting is good for geeks and power users, not commonly mortals Linux users like many of us, that want to contrinute to translations.

A web interface is an excellent extention of the actually SVN one. From my point of view, a web interface will be good for contributors, that found errors and propose alternatives. Or, in an urgent matter, you can use the web interface from the office, during the day, and after works, at home, from your Linux machine you can use the svn interface.

A web interface is excellent for people that aren't at their Mandriva Linux personal computer and want to submit translations. They'll be validated by validators (coordinators) and commitred afterwards.

Personally I can only congratulate Mandriva and its translators community for tihis initiative.

It would still be possible to use ordinary SVN for contributing translations,
right?

Otherwise, I won’t be able to contribute to translating Mandriva to Norwegian
Nynorsk anymore. Any system that requires the translators to use a Web
interface to either translate, or to download and upload individual
translation files, takes too much time and effort to use, and forces the
translators to waste too much time doing administrative tasks instead of doing
the actual translations.

The current SVN structure is terrible, but at least it’s possible to script it
to fetch and commit updates automatically, making updating the translations
fast and easy.
