I had problems on a couple of machines installing from the free DVD, one being a Dell laptop (not same as yours) and another a desktop. In both cases it was when something was loading and their is a progress bar that goes across the middle of the screen. Would get partway across, hang, and then after a while an error message. Don't remember exactly the message, but seemed like a medium error. In both cases I had to burn a different brand of DVD. Never had issues like this before, so seems like 2010.1 is particularly sensitive (though I do not understand how that could be). Having the issue on the desktop was very odd, as it has two DVD drives that I use all the time, and could not do install with either one from one DVD (that checked out fine). Norm
