That works, of course, but if you don't want the image to come up at all
during boot, you can add an append line to your boot loader.  If you're
using grub, I don't know how to do this, because I've never used grub.
However, if you're using lilo, the line would look something like this:

        append="resume=/dev/sda6 splash=verbose"

You wouldn't want to change the "resume" part; just add the "splash="
part.  So if you're using grub instead of lilo for your boot loader, get
into it and find where-ever it is that you can add an append, and put
that "splash=verbose" there and see if that takes care of it for you.
