Externe Platte - USB oder Firewire ?

Hallo Liste,

ich habe eine externe Platte derzeit mit firewire angeschlossen. Leider kann 
man sie nur verwenden, wenn sie vor dem booten eingeschaltet ist (das hat 
sich auch mit 10.2 LE 2500 nicht geändert.

Was ist eigentlich zu empfehlen: USB oder Firewire?

Wenn die Platte schon über Firewire verwendet wurde, kann man sie auch dann 
noch unter USB weiter verwenden? Ich würde mal gerne versuchen, ob evtl. 
unter USB ein- und ausschalten im Betrieb möglich ist, wie es unter Win2k 
problemlos möglich ist.
