Well, I did have a look and all the repositories had been set up.  Using 
mcc could not see anything from PLF under system -> x11.  There were two 
packages to do with x11-xorg.  The 1.5 version could not be installed 
because of "unsatisfied x11-xorg-1.5-server" or something like that.  
There was a later nvidia driver, 185, which I tried to install.  Did not 
seem to work but maybe I should have rebooted rather than telinited.  
Too tired to think.  Reverted to 180.51 anyway.
