I really want to have a great laptop/portable computer running Linux. I purchased the older 4gig flash drive in 2007 and was never able to get the two laptops I own to accept the flash drive. One was a Sony and the other was a HP. Support tried to help but the bios just wouldn't work. I look at the old Mandriva flash drive over the years and say??? wonder when??? Now I read the new 8gig flash drive description with words that tell me surely this will load even if I have to keep running Windows. I have a new laptop running Vista 32 and it is a HP. My old Sony is still running Windows XP but the bios just won't accept anything. Both are top of the line with lots of bells and whistles type computers ... I broke down and tried to order the new flash drive but was shocked when I found out it costs more than half of the 60 US dollars to ship a little flash drive to Texas. *Why 31 dollars for shipping? * Am I spoiled by US marketing with low shipping costs? All I want is a decent Linux program running on a good or great computer not one of my old computers. I guess I will have to buy a computer with Ubuntu already loaded as the operating system? Honestly the flash drive seems to me the best way to have a good alternate program but *Will I be throwing away 90 us dollars for a 8gig flash drive that will become a partner for the old 4 gig flash drive that never worked? * Larry in Texas ____________________________________________________ Want to buy your Pack or Services from Mandriva?
