Assuming that an available partition exists, Kubuntu can be installed
there. Kubuntu will configure Grub to ask which OS to boot when
starting the computer.

If an available partition does not exist, then I advise the OP to
create one with a tool designed for resizing and creating partitions.
That in itself is a sensitive subject and should be a new thread in my
opinion. One rule: before resizing or creating partitions on a drive,
back up the important data on that drive.

Do not forget to backup the drive before resizing partitions.

One last thing: before you go about resizing partitions, backup the
data on the drive.
