From the package name you give above, I see that you're using the x86_64 version of Mandriva. A couple of years ago there was a big fuss about this - the x86_64 versions of the OS had many problems which simply didn't exist in the "normal" i586 versions. I am still using the i586 versions of Mandriva because I don't have any 64-bit hardware, so I can't test it.
