I can't help you with your Flash question. I can however tell you that 
Linux is just fine for an eeepc. I had an Asus 701, the very small one, 
and Linux (Ubuntu 9.04) runs just fine on that. Not slow at all. On the 
newer Asus 1000HE it runs like a dream. So no worries about running 
Linux on a netbook.
