Mandriva 2010, Gnome 2.28.0. I'm getting so sick and tired of the problems I'm having with pulse audio and Alsa there must be an alternative out there somewhere. Some of the problems I've experienced: When PA is running it takes 20 minutes to copy a 1.4gb file to my thumb drive, without it running it takes less than 3. I constantly see entries like this in my syslog pulseaudio[10095]: asyncq.c: q overrun, queuing locally pulseaudio[10095]: ratelimit.c: 88 events suppressed Alsa gives errors like this: alsa-util.c: snd_pcm_avail() returned a value that is exceptionally large: 1789540 bytes (10144 ms). pulseaudio[10095]: alsa-util.c: Most likely this is a bug in the ALSA driver 'snd_ens1371'. Please report this issue to the ALSA developers. pulseaudio[10095]: alsa-util.c: snd_pcm_delay() returned a value that is exceptionally large: -1515272 bytes (-8589 ms). I've set the sound configuration to use the OSS driver: Your card currently use the OSS "via82cxxx_audio" driver (default driver for your card is "snd_via82xx") Of course using the OSS driver I'm without sound again. I've filed bug reports with Alsa to no avail it seems. Any advice would be appreciated. -- Chris KeyID 0xE372A7DA98E6705C
