The only experience I have had with any problem such as this was=20
applications which I left open when logging out.  I fixed the problem by=20
pressing the resize button (normally between the - minimize and the x=20
close button on the top right corner. I then moved and resized the=20
window to my liking.  Next, I closed the window before logging out. =20
After doing this the applications opened correctly.   I don't know if=20
this is aprpos to your problem but it is a possible solution.
