True, same issue here.

Pictures are installed, but PNG are corrupted.

It seems like a ascii ftp transfer instead of binary, it can be fixed
with :
perl -pi -e "s|[\r\n]\n|\n|g" pixmaps/*.png

Maybe Michael, the maintainer, or some other interested packager (me)
will do it ?

A patch that allow translations to be integrated in the package would be
nice too.
