mythtv problem with shared libraries

Greetings,

I just installed mythtv from plf, but when I try to run any
executable, I receive errors of this form:

mythtv: error while loading shared libraries: libmythtv-0.20.1.so.0:
cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

The libraries installed through plf all have the form
libmythtv-0.20.so. (note the lack of a ".1").

Can someone help me get in the right direction... hopefully without
symlinking every library?
