I don't have any real numbers; moreover, I don't have parallel installs
of Mandriva 32-bit and Mandriva 64-bit (I have a mere WinXP dual boot
partition that's gathering dust somewhere on my HD), so all I can say is
that Koepi's Xvid build for Windows ran more or less as fast as a C-only
compile of Xvid in 64-bit, using an MPEG-2 stream as source. Now, maybe
there is no difference between 32- and 64-bit Xvid speed, if Koepi's PE
build is making use of the C implementation (which I doubt: I think he's
made his build based on the Pentium Pro instruction set, without MMX nor
SSE, but with assembly support). Other factors such as the software
chain I was using in WinXP may have slowed things down.
I may try to install the 32-version of avidemux and libxvid4 and run
some tests, but I really don't feel curious enough for now.
