Hi, I faced same bug, removal of scim-bridge-qt4 resolved issue, thks for
workaround.

FYI vlc prefs are in ~/.config/vlc, in my Mandriva 2009
(mandriva-linux-one-2009-KDE4-jp-zh-cdrom-i586.iso
fbb95c3e8c47d891a5c3a1e05f29e909 ).
