Hi,

what package are you using? I have checked, both
mplayer-1.0-1.rc2.18.2plf2009.0.i586.rpm and
mplayer-1.0-1.rc2.23.r28387.1plf2009.0.i586.rpm depend on lirc, so I
guess they have lirc enabled. I cannot test this myself though.
