support.  You don't get access to the private FTP server.  You have
*exactly* what a commercial entity would have, should they have paid
for it.  The software is the same.  The web interface is the same.
*Everything* is the same.  The difference is, you don't get the
manuals, support, etc.

Maybe that's where everyone thought that MNF was free?

SNF WAS free but the automatic web - front end upgrade option was not released with the "Free" version (and you didn't get official support from Mandrake).
I believe it's documented in this list somewhere (about SNF) and USED to be documented on Mandrakes site.  I will endeavour to dig up the relevant posts if I can be bothered later on :)  -  To prempt your question, yes, I have kept ALL posts since I joined this Mailing List!    :)
A quick scan showed that it was lightly refered as free on Thu, 29/01/2003 @ 10:41:26AM.

Please correct me if I'm wrong but, this was to be the same for what was the successor to SNF (now MNF).

I still don't get it.  Not once was MNF ever to be given away for 
free.  SNF wasn't, MNF8.2 wasn't, what made everyone think that MNF2 
was any different.

We haven't abandoned anything, we haven't done anything sneaky, we 
haven't robbed you of anything.  We did exactly what we set out to do 
which was to create an enterprise firewall product.  Nothing has 
changed on our end.  Your perception of things seems to have changed 
over time, but I don't understand why.

Did I miss something?  Was everyone told that MNF2 was supposed to be 
free when the betas started rolling and then we snatched it away and 
went back on our word?
