I got those to build - but I had to create a link as follows:

Building as root on Mandriva 2005LE:

cd /root
ln -s /usr/src/RPM rpm

That was because the build of backend created

    /root/rpm/SOURCES/naat-backend-0.8.tar.bz2

but then expected to be able to reference it as:

    /usr/src/RPM/SOURCES/naat-backend-0.8.tar.bz2

I now have: /usr/src/RPM/RPMS/{noarch|i586}

So I guess the next question is, is there a (documented) (minimalist) 
list of  packages to be installed on the firewall
together with the above?  (The target is not the box I'm building on!)
