Yes, apparently I hadn't grasped how touchy people are on this list.
Talk about jumping into a boiling cauldron.

At any rate, this is my "see you later" email. I'm not the moderator
anymore (hallelujah), so I have no obligations to this list anymore.
It's apparent to me that people don't like the way I write anything
and while my original response to "what do we do know" may have been
a little... well.. flamebait-ish, it seems like everything I write
now is taken in the same context and I can't write anything without
someone feeling angry. There is a lot of anger on this list. It's
disturbing.

So, my apologies to everyone for my original request to take
discussion of "Florin's Firewall" off the list. Yes, the mail was
perhaps a little mean-spirited, and for that I apologize. I believe
my mails since then have been quite civil for the most part, but what
I write is twisted, changed, and very obviously taken out of
context. I suppose it's easier to think I'm Mr. Evil and believe
that everything I write was birthed in the lowest depths of Hades
than to actually *read* what I've written.

FWIW, I'm just a lowly developer, and to clarify things I'm not a)
QA, b) Technical Support, c) Management, d) part of any PR
department. And other than a few mails, nothing I've written should
be taken as "out of the mouth" of Mandriva; it's all been personal
opinion, written by me, and coming from my own personal email
account. Maybe I should have gotten a [email protected] email
address and I wouldn't have been subjected to the "you work for
Mandriva, you must be the devil" attitude I've received. But that's
ok.. live and learn.

I've done my part and forwarded mails to management and asked them to
work with you people to whatever extent is deemed possible, but I
haven't received any response. If I had, I would have forwarded it,
and probably been personally subjected to flames based on the
response that wouldn't even be my own.

Oh, and Florin, it's not that I ever tried to belittle your work on
MNF. I think you did a fantastic job and it's commendable. I
personally don't like MNF *for my uses* because I'm not fond of the
web interface and I really dislike the template system because I
prefer to do my administration on the commandline. So it's not that
there's anything wrong with MNF, but until it learns to read back
manual changes instead of wiping them, it's not very useful to me. I
*have* used MNF in the past for a firewall... =) Now I use a home-
brewed system. So I don't have anything against MNF itself, just
that it's not overly useful for *me*.

So, again, my apologies to everyone I've offended, made angry, made
bang their heads against the wall, etc. Thanks to whomever decided
it would be nice to send me a dead rat in the mail. It's been a
pleasure, it truly has.

Now that I'm not the moderator anymore, rest assured you will not
hear from me again and you can go back to your regularly scheduled..
whatever.

Have a wonderful day.
