Hi Nigel,

=20

I am still doing Dialup through the modem from the firewall. The modem
does not initiate the dialup, the firewall does this. I've set the modem
to Bridge mode.

I've been using it this way for over a year now on MNF1 as well as MNF2
Beta 2.

=20

As soon as the firewall establishes the dialup connection, a new ppp0 is
created, and this is why I define ppp+.

=20

I think that I have found the problem. There is a configuration error
in the Interface-Detection.php script which will cause that the
Interface with the modem will never be detected. I am not at my test
machine right now, but I will reply with the settings (what it is, and
what I believe it should be) tonight.=20=20

=20

Regards,

=20

Werner

Subject: Re: [Security Firewall] ADSL Detection Problem

If your ADSL link is connected to the firewall via ethernet, then you
don't want to be configuring
the firewall to do PPP+.

You just need 2 zones each with an ethernet interface, one for the LAN =3D
ETH0 and the second=20
for the WAN =3D ETH1 to which you connect the ADSL modem.

Hi,
=20
Firstly, thanks to Mandriva for making this ISO available!
=20
I've previously downloaded the source code and compiled it a few times
on V10.0 as well as V10.1. I ran into the problem that I have now and
thought that maybe it has something to do with the way that I compiled
the source code. (I am not really a programmer) I've also sent an email
to the mailing list without any responses.
=20
My problem is as follows:
I am using ADSL with a Ethernet ADSL Modem. I've installed the ISO of
MNF2, configured my network interfaces (I have 2 currenly), and set up 2
zones (LAN =3D ETH0) (WAN =3D PPP+).
=20
When I select Internet Access | DSL Connection and specify the PPPoE
option, I do not get any External Interfaces for my ADSL Connection even
if I try to detect one.....
=20
Am I doing something wrong? Is this maybe a bug??? I got the same
result every time I compiled MNF from source as well. It works without
any problems on the Beta 2 CD that I have.
=20
Any help / comments will be welcome!
=20
Thanks!
