This is a multi-part message in MIME format... ------------=_1127147615-805-4157 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable Content-Disposition: inline I don't go by reviews, I test the product to see if it does what I need it = to do and then use/buy it if it does. But that's impossable now with MNF2. Mandriva expects you to believe them a= bout what MNF2 does. It cannot be tested. How I found MNF is from a list of firewall products listed here http://dist= rowatch.com/dwres.php?resource=3Dfirewalls and a list I found more recently= http://www.thedropzone.co.nz/linuxfirewalls.htm=20=20 Notice that those sites don't have a place for users of those programs to p= ost their comments. And even if they did, posting my "review" of Mandriva m= ight be seen by some, but I want to be sure Mandriva is aware. And I know t= hat they are reading these posts. >>> [email protected] 09/17/05 11:12PM >>> I agree with Jim here. Besides... the people on this list has formed their opinion of Mandriva at this point because we've all been reading and waiting along with you.=20=20 If you're still that frustrated and feel abandoned by this community, do like the rest of us and share your review on linux firewall reviews and such to discourage others from coming in this direction. Isn't this how most of us originally found MNF? The excellent reviews at that time? This is still how the community works.=20=20 Personally I've moved on to a different firewall and am much happier with it and have posted my reviews to encourage others to experience what I have. I recommend that you do the same to express how you feel to others (not on this list). Popularity is the biggest voice in deciding on what distro to use. If it doesn't remain popular, mission accomplished. Truthfully, the main reason I'm still a member of this list is due to the support requested of me by people I've gotten to use MNF (both free and paid for versions). I expect to get the first heads up on new issues from this list. -----Original Message----- From: security-firewall-owner-4qZELD6FgxheH41UXmfQsti2O/[email protected]=20 [mailto:security-firewall-owner-4qZELD6FgxheH41UXmfQsti2O/[email protected]] On Behalf Of Jim Sent: Friday, September 16, 2005 12:49 PM To: security-firewall-4qZELD6FgxheH41UXmfQsti2O/[email protected]=20 Subject: RE: [Security Firewall] availability of MNF2 on MandrivaClub ! Personally I'm tired of the Mandriva bashing and just the bad attitudes in general. I guess if you don't like it, then it's more than fine to post your disapproval, but this is getting out of hand. I originally subscribed to this list to help and get help regarding MNF2 and up until the recent iso problem, the list was running well and on topic. Tell me this, by posting "Mandriva's word cannot be trusted" over and over, how is that helping this list? We read it the first time and I guess if you don't agree with it, and you obviously don't and will not even be using MNF, then by all means unsubscribe. This isn't a flame list. Also, it isn't Mandriva that promised to release it for free, it was Mandrake. When one company buys another, expect promises to be dropped. It's life, move on. I personally am disappointed in with the entire roll out and the forced release through a "vip" kind-of solution. I would much rather have had the Mandrake promise, but I'll deal with it as I see fit instead of ranting on and on to an email list. And by all means it's something you can support... BUY IT. Should not matter, it's not what was promised. I contributed to the "project" several ways. Bugzilla #12034 was my latest, and some of my customers bought MNF because I recommended it. If that's not contributing to the project, what is? But what gets my goat is that I put my reputation on the line by recommending it. Because I was able to download the MNF8.2 iso and test/evaluate/learn it I was able to recommend it. My customers wanted to be sure this was something I could support, not some company in a far off time zone. But I'm happy to report that my customers have also taken my recommendation and are dumping it. There will be no further money from my customers to Mandriva. By the end of next week, all MNF installs will be replaced. Said it before. Qill say it again. And will keep saying it! Mandriva's word cannot be trusted! >>> [email protected] 09/16/05 09:40AM >>> Probably Florin has a list with people with valuable contributions. I would like to be also in the list, who doesn t? But obviously I didn t qualify for it. :( Atentamente, Alejandro Lengua, Virtual Orbis eBusiness Services www.virtualorbis.com, www.vohosting.com=20 --------------------------------------- mark-jvh+DmXy/[email protected] wrote: > so how do we get added to the me too list? > > Mark > > >>I received access, but I noticed that my email address was spelled >>incorrectly so I created an alias for it and forwarded it to my actual >>box. >> >>Make sure that the email address that FLORIN had listed is the same >>one that you're using to access the VIP section. >> >>Thanks, >> >>Jim >> >>-----Original Message----- >> >>From: security-firewall-owner-4qZELD6FgxheH41UXmfQsti2O/[email protected]=20 >>[mailto:security-firewall-owner-4qZELD6FgxheH41UXmfQsti2O/[email protected]] On Behalf Of Sven >>Brill >>Sent: Friday, September 16, 2005 12:55 AM >>To: security-firewall-4qZELD6FgxheH41UXmfQsti2O/[email protected]=20 >>Subject: Re: [Security Firewall] availability of MNF2 on Mandriva Club ! >>Thomas de Pirey wrote: >> >>>I don't understand why i don't have access to this download...
