I've installed the smp kernel and it didn't require any modification to
enable HT technology (at least, cpuinfo shows 2 cpu's on my 1 cpu machine)

I suppose people who are concerned about this problem should simply disable
it in the BIOS configuration... (And mostly likely already have)
