I didn't see anything peculiar, but especially thunderbird seems to have 
a fatter font for mailboxes with new mail in it. Also the Taskbar of KDE 
has a more pronounced font for some (active?) applications. More people 
noticed a change, only one was really annoyed ;-)

Another found the rendering of fonts for the menus was much better now 
(more consistent) and another noticed the scrolling bug in firefox was 
still present (I seem to remember seeing a bugreport about that ages ago 
http://qa.mandriva.com/show_bug.cgi?id=14554)

I'd say, on average, it's an improvement if it fixed a security problem.
