Wouldn't it cause an automatic upgrade to apache 2 for those machines
currently running apache 1? That could be a problem for production sites 
that rely in their current configuration of apache 1.

I think it would save a lot of hassle just left apache2 as is, the
majority of other distros out there do that not without a good reason.
