In fact that shouldn't be your concern. It's purely internal to mindi. Nrmally we're around 200 MB-300MB these days.

Nope. Unrelated. It contains all the files needed to boot again your system at restore time, so a mini Linux distro.
Based on what your upstrem distro provides.
