Setting it to that larger figure did the trick for me.
I was able to complete the image capture after this change.

Sorry, I think my message is not correct about the /tmp filesystem. I have faced similar problems while mondo generates an image and uses the default /tmp dir as temporal storage. 

Try increasing the EXTRA_SPACE to 600000 as suggested in this thread:
