Ah, ah ! Good to know.
The NFS fail is an error introduced between 3.2.2 and 3.3.0 beta. So I've now rebuild rpm packages for you to test on el6 as well, similar from a code perspective to the one I provided on el7. At least we'll be able to copare apple to apple (fruit not computer ;-)

Ok great. On EL7 we may have an issue with missing dynamic libraries or something else. IIRC strace is delivered in the env, so you may be able to use it to discover what gets wrong.

Thanks for the diagnostic. So EL7 is providing a file expanding in a way too large one somehow. 
You don't have a bind mount on /proc elsewhere e.g. on your FS on EL7 ? That could explain stuff.
Often that is used for chrootted daemons like named.
