Hello,

I am having a hard time trying to restore a Centos 8 VM.

I have taken a backup using mondoarchive (mondo-3.3.0-1.centos8.x86_64)
within a CentOS 8 box, then I tried to mondorestore on another VM
(smaller), automatically (using bootable backup ISO).

Boot partition /dev/vda1 is ext4, root partition /dev/vda2 is LVM and
there is a swap partition too.

During mondorestore, it took me to do

    |mkinitrd initramfs...|

which seemed to complete successfully.

The whole process seemed to end successfully, but the new system is not
bootable.

I tried:
https://translate.google.com/translate?hl=&sl=auto&tl=en&u=https%3A%2F%2Fblog.techlab-xe.net%2Frestore-centos8-mondorescue%2F&sandbox=1

I entered CentOS 8 rescue mode (to prompt) and run:

blkid    ---->    I found new UUIDs

I then did:

     e2fsck -f /dev/vda1
     tune2fs -U <new_UUID> /dev/vda1

which appeared to finish successfully.

The system still remains non-bootable.

(I tried hard to download the mondorestore.log, for your reference, but
I still haven't managed to do it successfully.)

Any hint please on restoring CentOS 8? Why it refuses to boot?

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Nick
