By the looks of the autotesting video unionfs isn't working with 2.6.22,
which is likely to be the cause of your problems.

The 2.6.22-base required (and still requires) a bit of work due to cloop
and unionfs, and isn't in a functional state.

That said, I've looked into the issue and it was something minor. I've
upload an updated base-scripts package, so tomorrows 2.6.22-autobuild
might be more useful :)
