Problem with SB Live and Alsamixer

Hi,

I have a problem with Soundblaster Live 5.1 and Morphix 0.4-1 (installed 
on my hdd):
I can't hear any sound from the rear boxes and from the center box too. 
I googled and I found that I need to install alsamixer and 
gnome-alsamixer to get the rear boxes working, but both programs do not 
work. The gnome-alsamixer window is empty and when I try to view the 
properties it crashes. When I start alsamixer on the consolse, I get 
following error:
alsamixer: function snd_ctl_open failed for default: No such file or 
directory

Does anybody know how to get the rear boxes working?
