One of the first things I tried was appending multiple entries to status. It 
did not cause any problems with dpkg, and any duplicate entries appeared to 
be quietly ignored. Perhaps the only problem might be with different package 
versions..
However, if we could tag packages so that status and info/ scripts are saved, 
that would be a great help.
