Poor man's install variation

I think this is the right list... I'd like to do a variation of the poor man's install. However, the FAQ says you run "morphix tohd=hda1". That assumes you have a cd. I've been doing this intellibuild, but instead of burning each iso to test it, can I extract the iso to a hard drive of another computer and boot with the "morphix fromhd=hda1" ? If so, what is the command for properly extracting the iso or can I format the hdd as iso (which I've seen done to simulate virtual cdroms).
