A netmask of 255.255.255.255 (/32) will prevent the bridge from being 
able to talk to ANY system.

The bridge may not need internet connectivity, but it does need to be 
able to talk to the subnet for the computers it is bridging for.

Do not give the bridge a default gateway if you do not want it to talk 
to the internet.

Try allowing the bridge to talk to the subnet that you are wanting to 
work with.
