Spanning Tree Protocol (a.k.a. STP) and its associated Bridge Protocol 
Data Units (a.k.a. BPDUs) are link local and as such not suppose to be 
passed.  You will probably need to have the Linux system participate in 
STP and have it generate its own BPDUs to advertise what it knows about 
on either side of it.

I ask you, what information are you expecting to see on switches on 
either side of your bridge?  Are you sure that you are not expecting 
something like Cisco Cisco Discovery (?) Protocol (a.k.a. CDP) to 
propagate neighbor information?
