To ebtables ot Iptables?

Thanks for your replies I was thinking more about the security of a file server rather than adding a layer of security to the network. I was looking at ebtables to try to assess whether or it could be utilised with IPS to help secure a LAN/intranet file server. I was looking at the configuring a bridge section of this website. <http://www.linuxsecure.de/index.php?action=90#whatis_ips>In this example I understand that they are trying to filter between two ethernet cards. If a third was fitted, could it be made to operate similarly to a DMZ? The DMZ being the machines on the private address space.
