Hi

Thanks for the response.

X and co seemed pretty ok.  Evolution for one works well in most cases,
but some times its as if it "hangs" when doing something in the
background.  Not really something I am used to, as this is a P4 box,
and even under two compiles it still is usually fairly responsive.

Multi tasking/threading did though seem to get worse the longer the
uptime.  The normal hour for X compile for instance went to a three
to four hour crawl ...

In general my experience is more in scripting, and bug finding, thus
my gdb and C skills are a bit rustic.  There are others though that
are more skilled in C that will help out if there is enouth interest.
Also, I am more than willing to try any suggestions.
