The 2.6 kernel can support either thread package, so
the choice is between userspace code, not kernel code, I think.

However, it does look quite convincingly like NPTL is
the userspace package to use for threading support going
forward.  Pop on over to https://listman.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/phil-list
and you'll see that development continues apace on NPTL,
whereas NGPT appears to have ceased development.

This is good; it lets us focus on one package, and I think
in this case the simpler package (NPTL) was the right choice.
