Hello list, I've recently recompiled a program to use ngpt instead of LinuxThreads, with no changes to the source. The performance of my app dropped from 4kHz down to about 3kHz. Admittedly, I don't have kernel support for ngpt yet (I'm using an unpatched 2.4.17) and the test box was a uniprocessor, but I would not expect performance to drop by 25%. Is this even a fair test? Is there any reason to believe that performance would *much* better with M:N threading on an SMP machine, or should I stick to LinuxThreads? Thanks, Don Dade _________________________________________________________________ MSN Photos is the easiest way to share and print your photos: http://photos.msn.com/support/worldwide.aspx
