Restart after changing ntopng preferences?

Do I need to restart ntopng after I change preferences via the GUI? Seems like I do?

If so, I need some help with the restarting procedure. I'm typing sudo /etc/init.d/ntopng restart, but it says "command not found". This used to work. What's necessary to be in place for it to work, and what could have happened to make it stop working?

In the meantime, I'm rebooting the machine to implement changes.
