Packets sent by aironet not being sniffed by orinoco on "same" frequency

Hello all, I am not sure if the channels really do match on the orinoco as well as the aironet cards. I am broadcasting UDP packets using an aironet 350 series card, and am trying to sniff them using an orinoco card on an ipaq. When I use an orinoco card to broadcast, there is no problem in sniffing the packets. With aironet, iwconfig always shows that the card is at Frequency of 2.412 Ghz or channel 1, even when i try to set it to a different channel, though the channel number does change in /proc/drivers/aironet/eth1/Config. Setting the same channels on the aironet as well as the orinoco card in monitor mode doesn't help me in capturing any packets. In fact I have tried keeping the channel of the aironet card fixed, and checking on all channels on the orinoco, but there is no sign of the packets. The packets are being sent as shown by ethereal at the senders end. Any ideas??
