You know what I think...

You need to back up to the beginning.  Take the default config.opts
file from the 3.2.4 pcmcia-cs package.  Describe your problem with
that setup, in detail (i.e. boot with no card inserted, capture
messages, say exactly what happens when you insert the card).

I can't make heads or tails of what you've told me so far, because it
is a mishmash of goofed-up configurations.  Most of what you've done
to try to "fix" your problem, has only obscured what's going on.

And, you should start with a 2.4.22 kernel or a stock kernel from a
major distribution.  Which is supposed to be "stable".  Describe that.
Once we sort that out, then maybe we can move on to experimental
2.6.0-test stuff.
