Your revised Configure file does indeed make pcmcia-cs-3.2.5 work with
Red Hat kernel 2.4.20-20.9nP (the nP means I've recompiled it with
pcmcia disabled).  There are many, many new messages during boot and
startup.  These appear to be from the cs memory probe.  I am scarcely 
competent to read and understand them all.  In the end there are these:

Nov 21 10:32:12 datbird kernel: cs: IO port probe 0x0100-0x037f: excluding 0x378
-0x37f
Nov 21 10:32:12 datbird kernel: cs: IO port probe 0x0400-0x04ff: excluding 0x4d0
-0x4d7
Nov 21 10:32:12 datbird kernel: cs: IO port probe 0x0a00-0x0aff: clean.
Nov 21 10:32:12 datbird kernel: cs: IO port probe 0x0c00-0x0cff: clean.

Previously with default RH 9 kernel 2.4.20-8nP and pcmcia-cs-3.2.3,
all four of these address ranges were found "clean".

Anyway, wireless communication works again.  Thank you.


My next experiment will be to install Fedora Core 1 and try to make
the Vadem VG-469 ISA-PCMCIA adapter with an Orinoco Gold Card work.
Presumably, I will again need to use pcmcia-cs-3.2.5 with this 
kernel 2.4.22-1.2115.nptl.
