For the last few weeks I have been really pounding my head over this problem
with the Sprint CDMA modem I have recently bought.
If anyone is interested this is the card:
http://www.growell.co.kr/telecom/product/pr_sub2.htm
It acts as a normal serial card so theoretically it should work fine with the
serial_cs driver.
By default it did not work with my pcmcia config:
Jan 9 01:12:55 universe kernel: Testing ttyS0 (0x03f8, 0x0000)...
Jan 9 01:12:55 universe kernel: serial: ttyS0: simple autoconfig failed (ff, ff)
Jan 9 01:12:55 universe kernel: register_serial(): autoconfig failed
Jan 9 01:12:55 universe kernel: serial_cs: register_serial() at 0x03f8, irq 3 failed
Then I added the following line in /etc/pcmcia/config.opts
exclude port 0x3f8-0x3ff
Which obviously makes sense...
Now it registers just fine:
ttyS01 at port 0x02f8 (irq = 3) is a 16C950/954
So all is well and good. But the problem is that now I can't communicate with
the card. Both minicom and pppd fail to talk to the card and I can't even
execute a normal ATZ reset and get back an OK (it just blocks forever).
I am running pcmcia-cs version 3.2.0. I am willing to compile and install 3.2.3
but I didn't see anything int eh CHANGELOG that would apply to my situation. I
might go ahead and take care fo this tonight anyway.
I don't know if this helps (the discussion was 2 years ago) but I found a thread
that might apply (at least it sounds similar)
