how does voltage sensing work?

Another interesting issue is the different voltage settings of those boards. I 
also don't have any clue why this is different. Unfortunately, I don't have a 
complete PCMCIA documentation here (but the "CF+ and Compact Flash 
Specification 1.4"), but they don't talk about the meaning of nVS0 and nVS1, 
some voltage sensing connectors. Where can I get more info?
